hydraulic shit to electronics? Denso could probably make something good for it. And maybe an engine swap too hehehe

All this Grosser talk just makes me want to buy a Grosser.

Yes, that car came from the factory exactly the way it should. All Mercedes from the 200d to the 600 Grosser are finicky cars. Start messing around and you'll cause a million other problems. These are the Germans we are talking about.

Yup, me too, which is why I posted this :)

Unfortunately most of them need like $50k of work, but swapping in the electronics and maybe an engine swap will cost not even 20% that much.

For example, one of the hydraulic motors cost over $11k. You could probably switch to electronics for under 4k.

The engine I'd swap in would be the Toyota Century's 1GZ V12, or possibly the Double Duratec if it fits. What is the most common V12 anyway? Too bad there aren't more American and Japanese V12's :(

If I wanted a $100k luxury car, I'd buy a Grosser.

Why would you want to replace the M100????? It was the basis for the engine in the very first AMG car, which is why the 6.2L M156 is badged "6.3".

For a lot of that stuff you could probably whip up something custom. Wire the buttons to a microcontroller or whatnot. It'd probably be deceptively cheap and simple to switch everything out (Essentially it'd just be a tear down). Plus, you could sell the hydraulic components potentially. Depending on your level of expertise, this could be pretty awesome!

Normally I'd say no, but the sheer magnitude of costs involved in replacing components of the original system mean that a fully custom fabricated electronic system replacing all hydraulic components STILL wouldn't cost as much as an OEM rebuild. And it would last longer and cost way less to fix if anything wore out in the future.

And that's EXACTLY what I was thinking :)
